VB-FullAir 2C for the new Mercedes-Benz Vito/V Class

Placed on 18/08/2015

Available from the beginning of September: full rear axle air suspension for the new Mercedes-Benz Vito/V Class. The VB-Airsuspension range already included various suspension systems for the old type Vito, but from September the range will also comprise full air suspension for the new type.

Compared to the old type, various aspects of the new Mercedes-Benz Vito/V Class have been improved. The vehicle now has a completely new front and the large rear lighting units have been replaced with slightly more modest ones. Another modification relates to the fact that air suspension on the rear axle is no longer available ex works for the new Mercedes-Benz Vito and V Class.

Being an official ‘VanPartner of Mercedes-Benz’ in terms of suspension, VB-Airsuspension has complied with its obligation and developed a new air suspension system for the Vito and V Class. The newly developed VB-FullAir 2C system delivers a constant ride height, increased comfort, optimum driveability, increased stability, reduced wear of tyres/brakes and lower CO2 emissions. The system also provides the option to lower the rear end of the vehicle: the so-called “kneeling function”.

Following on from the introduction of the VB-FullAir 2C, VB-Airsuspension has now also initiated the development of a VB-FullAir 4C system (air suspension on the front and rear axle) for the Mercedes-Benz Vito/V Class. The first prototype has already been installed on a Mercedes-Benz Vito/V Class 4x4.

German firm TERRACAMPER exhibited its latest pride and joy at the CMT trade fair in Germany: the new Mercedes-Benz Vito/V-Class 4x4, converted into a motorhome.
In the past TERRACAMPER has focused primarily on conversion units for the Volkswagen Transporter 4x4, but they have spotted an attractive alternative in the new Mercedes-Benz Vito/V-Class.

The German firm first approached VB-Airsuspension several years ago for help with a suspension modification aimed not only at providing more comfort and stability, but also to slightly increase the ground clearance.

When developing the Mercedes-Benz Vito/V-Class to motorhome conversion kit, TERRACAMPER contacted VB-Airsuspension to ask whether VB-Airsuspension could help them with the air suspension again. VB-Airsuspension responded in kind and developed a VB-FullAir 4C system (air suspension on the front and rear axle) for the new Mercedes-Benz Vito/V-Class.

The kit now on the vehicle is a prototype, which will be used as a kit until the end of the year to allow various tests to be carried out before the VB-FullAir 4C system is ready for series approval.

German magazine Explorer recently tested out the vehicle and held an interview with TERRACAMPER.
